In 1985 Nike made history, designing the first piece of footwear which was specifically made for a single sports player. However, The Air Jordan 1’s entrance onto the scene wasn’t plain sailing, with the NBA banning the shoe as players were expected to wear matching footwear out on the court. Nike remained defiant, accepting the fine from each on-court appearance, and the Jumpman went on to the make Jordan one of the most successful brands on the planet.
