Nike Air Huarache

Debuting in 1991 alongside the slogan ‘Have You Hugged Your Foot Today?’, the Nike Air Huarache’s neoprene sock held within the upper was the focal point of its campaign; said to literally hug your foot. Lifting its name from a Native American sandal, the Huarache’s exoskeleton-inspired design was a hit with both trainer-enthusiasts and professional athletes of the era – even endorsed by Olympic gold medallist Michael Johnson – and Nike’s trademark air unit and Phylon midsole further contributed to what was, and still arguably is, one of the comfiest pieces of performance footwear ever produced.
